Welcome to website of the Cock Inn Hotel

We are a 17th century Coaching Inn in the quiet Hertfordshire village of Sheering, near to Bishops Stortford, Sawbridgeworth both in Hertfordshire and Harlow in Essex. The original part of the Inn was built in 1655, whereas the hotel was built in 2003 so has a modern feel to it.

The Bedford Family have owned the property since 1998, and in that time they have been continually expanding and improving the business.
As the family not only work but also live on the premises you will be made welcome during your stay to ‘their home’. As there are 3 generations of Bedford’s you will always at some point be chatting to one of them!

The Bar is like a second home to many of the Village Locals so if you are just passing through someone will always make you feel welcome.

As we are situated 15 minutes drive from Stansted Airport and 30 minutes by train to either Cambridge or London staying at The Cock Inn is very popular with all types of visitors. We also offer a Stansted Airport Stay/Park/Fly package, which includes one night accommodation.
