The Cock Inn has been owned by the Bedford Family since 1999 and they welcome you to their 17th century pub with accommodation set in the historical village of Sheering which is mentioned in the Doomsday Book of 1086. Extract translated below:

Peter de Valognes owned SHEERING and all things that were situated and produced in Sheering being 1 x Mill – 8 x Cows – 100 x Calves – 1 x Horse – 35 x Sheep – 56 x Pigs – 1 x Mule – 1 x Ass – 3 x Beehives. In all worth 100 shillings (£5).

The Towns of Sawbridgeworth, Bishops Stortford, Harlow, Stansted Mountfitchet, Saffron Walden and Cambridge are all within easy driving distance with Stansted being our nearest airport and Sawbridgeworth our nearest train station with the M11 also within easy reach.

Several beautiful Wedding venues are situated in other nearby villages, making staying here ideal.
